First, thanks for all your hard work on what seems a most needed product!
Now.... down to business!
Program installed fine onto my XP Pro. Mambot installed perfectly, as well.
When I go to settings, I get a consistent message "Username incorrect for: and the site name". My UID and PW are correct.
Even with that message, I can successfully load/update categories. So, although I can't 'log in', I can still use the system...... how great a mystery is that?
So now I can download content, edit it and.... fail to save at any attempt. Specifically: 1. I choose an existing articled to edit 2. Status box keeps on stuck at 25% while I edit, even though the entire article has been retrieved. 3. Once done with edits, I click on Update and the status box stops, and then continues on stuck at 25% with the error message: Update error: Result of update content: null
When I just try a Test posting, I get the triple bonus of error messages:
1. Result of adding content: null 2. Result of adding to Homepage: null 3. Result of correct ordering: null
I'd love to send this off to the client for testing but, as it stands, I will patiently await your reply.
1. Be sure the settings are correct. The URL has to be the full URL including "http://" then the full domain name. Also the username and password must correspond to a super administrator or publisher within Joomla!.
2. Make sure that you are saving the settings using the "Save & Exit" button. Also check in the Blogg-X installation directory and open the "settings.xml" file to be sure the settings are stored. You will notice that the password has become an MD5 hash (mix of numbers and letters). That is fine, Blogg-X stores them that why for some attempt at security and because that is the way Joomla! handles passwords within it's database.
3. Try changing the password for the username on Joomla! and make the corresponding change in Blogg-X and give it a try again. There was a previous problem I believe I had corrected with some passwords not working correctly.
4. Be sure that you have Java 5.0 (1.5) installed.
5. Are you possibly not using a MySQL database?
Let me know if any of this helps, and if so specifically which step. If not I will try to give you some additional help.

URL is full. UID and PW are for myself, the Super Admin.
As a suggestion, I'd strongly prefer that an AUTHOR can use this, as well as any step privilege above. Also, a user should ONLY be able to edit his own postings. I haven't gotten far enough along to check that out.
My problem is that some of the news content posters are in countries where bandwidth is precious. For that reason, it would be beneficial to have an Internet login, post, then disconnect from the net. This can save users a LOT of money and still allow them to contribute.

Possible problem here. The settings.xml does appear correct in all instances, but it's in the \bin directory. The enpassword is a hash, but the password field itself is blank in the XML file.

4. Be sure that you have Java 5.0 (1.5) installed.
Java Runtime Vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc. Java Runtime Version: 1.5.0_04
The latest version of Java software = Version 5.0 Update 6. I'll do the upgrade now and let you know if that helped. Requires restarting the browser (Firefox), but wanted to get this off first.
5. Are you possibly not using a MySQL database?
MySQL 4xxx. Standard shared server as the web host.

Ok, i have attached a php file for you to try. On your webhost you should find the same file located in the mambot directory under blogg-x. Rename the file that is residing there to -orig or something similar. Then upload this new php file into the same directory. Let me know if this helps at all.

Edit: Removed .php file

FWIW, couldn't do the rename using FTP due to a permissions problem, which shouldn't happen. Fortunately, I have Joomla Explorer on the server which did the trick.
After uploading the file, ran the program again. Same phenomena.
While I'm thinking of it, it might help at some point if you check either during program install or runtime for the existing version of Java and, if not adquate, prompt for an upgrade with a hotlink to sun.com. That, at least, should eliminate one of the variables.
I'm up for a few hours if you'd like to try something else....
This site has the mambot loaded and worked via Blogg-X from my system. This site was just setup, less than 5 minutes ago, so if you are not seeing the site you will have to wait for the DNS to proprogate. Anyway give it a shot here and then I can help narrow the problem down even more. If the site and Blogg-X works for you with the site please let me know. If you would be willing to setup a temp account for me on your site with the appropriate permissions I can try it here with all the debugging messages and I may be able to help you out a little faster. If you want to go this route please PM or email me the information and don't post it here.
Merlin, I haven't heard anything back from your contact with the forum software. Once I have the information I should be able to make the necessary modifications without too many problems.
I will definately let you know when I have something.
I have this same problem. And I worked down all the tips and tricks but no result
The connection with the demo server is doing well. What I read somewhere is that you need a 'mambot' for blogg? Which do I have to use? And I how do I integrate the akocomment to Blogg? I have installed it now on the site but no result...
merlinbrasil...I think okidoki might have been referring to the post from Roy.
Roy...have you installed the mambot on your site? From your post it doesn't sound like you have. The mambot is located in the installation directory of where ever you installed Blogg-X on your hard drive. The file is named "mam_blogg-x_server". You install it via the mambot installer in the Joomla! admin interface. The demo site I have up and running already has the mambot installed.
