Hi, Have installed Blogg-X on my Win-XP box and the mambot on the server, gone through the settings and did a save and exit, yet I cannot connect to the site. I get an error message with "URL incorrect or mambot not loaded". Have tried connecting to this sites test area with the same results, any ideas what to try? Cheers Martini

Do you have the full url entered into Blogg-X? i.e. http://demo.iobinary.comAre you possibly behind a proxy server? If so you wont be able to communicate with the mambot via Blogg-X. Let me know and I will see what else I can do to help you out. Thanks... chris

hi Chris, Yes I am using the full URL, I'm not behind a proxy server and I dropped all firewalls just in case. I've shut down and restarted XP, reinstalled the software and tried connecting with no other applications running - but still no joy. This app would be a real bonus for my site so any help wpould be great. Cheers

Can you PM me the url to your site? Also please make sure that you have Java 1.5(5.0) installed. On the ftp server for the site can you verify that you see the blogg-x folder in the mambots directory. Also what version does joomla report the mambot being?
Thanks...

Sorry Chris but still no joy. The key here I think is I cannot even connect to this sites test area so I wonder if it's perhaps an XP SP2 issue?

Hmm, I was able to connect with your server. I am also on WinXP SP2, but I do have the XP firewall completely disabled, I use one firewall for my entire network. You said that you had turned off your firewall but is the winxp one still running? Even with my network firewall running Blogg-X has no problems getting out, but it works differently than alot of the standard firewalls. Zone alarm and similiar can provide protection on a per application basis, so if the specific application is blocked in the firewall then your protected but nothing works. I am guessing you are familiar with all of this though.

To the best of my knowledge the Windows firewall will only block incomming traffic but I did try turning it off to no avail. Have tried downloading a fresh copy of Blogg-X and doing an uninstall/install but still the same result. I'm using sygate firewall which does not list Blogg-X as ever having tried to make a connection with the internet, do you know if it would just list Java as the application? BTW if you're not using the pro version of zonealarm it will only protect your pc and not the others connected to your network. Sorry if you already were aware Thanks again for your help Chris, I do appriciate it.

Martini, It may be shown as Java, possibly javaw or maybe even xmlrpc. Not exactly sure how the firewall would identify it. The Apache XML-RPC component is the piece actually sending and receiving the data. Also I have attached another version of the xmlrpc component below. Please rename the original located in the installation directory/bin to "xmlrpc-old" and paste this version in.
Thanks...

Sorry Chris but the new file made no difference. Just in case I also shut down my local apache server but still without luck. I will try installing on another PC tomorrow night to see if that works. Cheers Martini

So installed on two other pc's on the network and all works as it should (very nice too may I add). As this is intended to allow others to post articles on my site I'm now feeling confident that I can offer a solution that works (thanks to Blogg-X) for these others. It will be interesting to see if there are any others like me that just can't connect.

It appears that I have the same problem. I've downloaden the Windows-version of this programme (version 0.85). The older versions did not contain any mambot-files (maybe a wise idea to post this mambot on this website?). So I can only try this with version 0.85.
I filled out all the details and I keep getting an errormessage, telling me that my password is wrong.
Anything news on this prob?
