Another "trouble connecting" issue
« on: May 24, 2006, 04:35:55 AM »

Hiya,

I downloaded blogg-x a couple of days ago, installed it on the test server I have running on my local machine, and it was working fine. Had it pointed at my machine's IP rather than any loopbacks, and it was great. I even installed it on another users machine on the same network, and they could use it fine too.

Then I had to have a shuffle of a few things. I needed to edit my configuration.php file in the joomla folder, since I was getting javascript domain errors. I changed it to no effect, changed it back and those errors went away, fine I though, play silly buggers. Then I needed to change a few of the section.category areas just to keep things tidy.

All was well on the site, but now I can't get blogg-x to connect and I have no idea why. The mambot is installed, and blogg-x must be able to find the mambot/site since it is able to verify my usernames, whichever valid ones I choose to use, and if I try an invalid one it lets me know, so it's not messing with cache or anything, works fine. But no matter what I try I can't get past the "get initial settings" error.

I'm absolutely certain it's something stupid I've done, but I've spent about 6 hours now pratting about with settings, rummaging in the code to try and find what's happening.

Someone please put me out of my misery. How can it find the mambot to validate the user, but not find it to get the site settings? What have I stuffed up?

Many thanks,
Simon

Simon... There is a known bug when the "Latest News" section is deleted or removed.  So in other words it not something that you have done, but something I did.  Blogg-X is looking for a section with an id of 1 and will give you that error if it doesn't find one.  Until a new version comes out about the only choice is to modify one of your sections via phpmyadmin to have a section id of 1.

Sorry for the problems.
