Well I have been experiencing some problems with my web host recently. I am still trying to get things worked out with them but may be moving the site. The only good to come of this is if I start with another host I can do so with Joomla! and finally leave Mambo behind.
As far as Blogg-X 0.76 I haven't recieved any bugs or complaints from anyone, so thats either really good or really bad. Is there any interest in a multi-lingual version? This wouldn't be hard to implement if people were willing to provide me with the translations.
I am still playing around with XML-RPC and would like to implement Blogg-X with a mambot component to eliminate the "remote database connection" requirement and make the program functional for more users but have been unable to get any test of XML-RPC to work. If anyone has any input on this please email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
Thanks...

Version 0.76 Beta has been released. I fixed the "incomplete" error message when having trouble dealing with the loading of the categories and added the ability to specify the "Database Prefix" for the Joomla! tables.
The installer will also now uninstall the previous version before installing this version, but your settings file will be retained. You must specify the "Database Prefix" in the settings if you want to reload the categories. The default for Mambo 4.5.x is: "mos_" and the default for Joomla! is: "jos_"

If you have any problems please post them into the forums here.

Couple of items of interest:
The site has had alot of extra visitors that came from the Joomla! site. Welcome and thanks for giving Blogg-X a look.
Also not sure what is going on with Blogg-X being posted on download.com and cnet. Guess I'm not going to hold my breath any longer and it will show up eventually.
With all the extra downloads I will hopefully be getting some good feedback and can take care of any problems or add any features that will make Blogg-X more useful.
Thanks...

Monday Blogg-X should be available at cnet and download.com. Hopefully this will bring some additional users into the mix and I can get all the bugs ironed out and release a 1.0 version. I have done extensive testing and thanks to Rob at combateffective.us for stress testing it as well. Problem is I really need other users with different servers and set-ups to let me know what problems they are experiencing or if everything is working correctly...

Just for fun I decided to google "Skype Bulk Transfer Control" to see what it would turn up and surprisingly I saw a couple mentions of it outside of my own little world. Nice to know that I'm not the only one using it. Check out the links below.

Ok, it's almost been finished. I have cleaned up the code, fixing some minor problems along the way. I have also figured out how to create dual platform (OS X, Windows XP) installers and bundle everything required into the application except for the Java Runtime Environment 1.5. This post is coming from an Apple Powerbook with the software installed via the installer. Once I get some logos and graphics created for use in the installer it will be released...It's so close...

I have been very reluctant to release the Windows version of DesktopContent for Mambo because I haven't been satisfied with the default Java graphical interface on Windows. This is where it's evident that Apple has spent alot of time customizing the Java environment so Java apps look right at home in OS X.
But I have found what I have been looking for and the final feature to be added in this release is a skin selector. The program will allow the user to select from multiple skins and use they one they prefer. At this time the skin selector is fully functional and works as expected, but I will be adding support for additional themes.
The feature freeze is to basically force me to stop playing with new ideas and features and cleanup the code base. The current code contains alot of debugging code and some "unfriendly" naming conventions. I figure a couple days of cleanup and restructuring and the program should be ready...How many times have I said that now?

Just finished adding these additional features into "DesktopContent for Mambo":
- CORE: Remember window locations. The program now remembers where you had the window positioned during the last use and restores it to that position when run again...Thanks to Rob at Combat Effective for the idea.
- CORE: Added a progress bar that displays the progress when the post button is clicked. Now you can tell if the program is having problems or if everything is working fine.
The new version will be released soon...keep watching the frontpage.
